The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality agreed with Tunisia’s Municipality for becoming Istanbul’s 35th sister city. Mayor Mohamed Beji Ben Mami said, Tunisia persists as Muslim country with the help of the Ottoman Empire, which ruled Tunisia from 16th until 20th centuries.
The Agreement has signed in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality building located in Saraçhane district of Istanbul.
During the signing ceremony, Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbaş said Istanbul had 34 sister city. This number would be 35 with the joining of Tunisia.“This protocol has essentially been under the signature of our brotherhood, which in fact we have been brother since hundreds years. We are always ready to share knowledge and experience in all areas. Tunisia and Turkey have common values and brotherhood over the centuries,” Topbaş noted.Meanwhile, Tunisian delegation expressed their pleasure in visiting Istanbul.
