Canadian Consul General Mark Bailey and his committee visited Mayor Topbaş in his own office.  Kadir Topbaş who spoke in the meeting in Saraçhane City Hall, said that “Honorable Ambassador, Canadian Istanbul Honorary Consul General visited us. Relations of Canada and Turkey are good. To develop these relations, we decided to transform Istanbul Honorary Consulate General as Official Consulate General.”

Topbaş who expressed that he conveyed information about “2010 European Culture Capital” and reminded continuing of NATO Summit in the city, said that “Honorable Ambassador reminded us that Canadian Defense Minister also in Istanbul because of NATO Summit and they lived beauties of Istanbul together. There is a cooperation protocol with Istanbul.

Expressing to happiness for visiting Mayor Topbaş and being in Istanbul, Canadian Ambassador Mark Bailey who spoke in the visiting, said that “We came here for helping to development of Turkey.”

Bailey who said that Canadian Defense Minister and his committee affected from Istanbul, declared that “In spite of cold weather, we affected from city. We performed very good trip. Honorable Mayor hosted us very closely. I thanked them and his workmates.”
