A contract for the construction of two sections of metro line on the Asian side of Istanbul was signed in the presence of the city’s mayor Mr Kadir Topbaş at a ceremony in the Saraçhane Municipal Building on May 5th, 2017.
The civil works contract, which was awarded to Turkish construction companies Doğuş, Özaltın, and Yapi Merkezi, encompasses the 10.9km eastern section of Line M5 from Çekmeköy to Sancaktepe and Sultanbeyli composed of nine new stations and the Sarıgazi - Taşdelen - Yenidoğan line with 6,95 km long composed of six new stations.
The total cost of the two sections is Lira 2.34bn ($US 650m) and both are due to open in 2020.
Çekmeköy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro line: 10,9 km. Completion is planned as 2020.
Sarıgazi-Taşdelen-Yenidoğan Metro Line: 6,95 km. Completion is planned as 2020.
