Tulip Time in Istanbul…

The 12th edition of the International Istanbul Tulip Festival organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Parks and Gardens Directorate is beginning with the participation of Mr. Kadir Topbaş, the Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The Tulip Festival will take place from April 1–30, 2017.

The International Istanbul Tulip Festival, which was organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, which is one of the important symbols of Istanbul and a part of Turkish culture, began in 2005 under the slogans “The most beautiful tulip grows in Istanbul” and “Istanbul Meets its Tulip!”. Events will be held around the city this year as part of the International Istanbul Tulip Festival.

While the city of Istanbul and the people of Istanbul meet their tulips, the main exhibitions and festivities will take place at Taksim Square, Emirgan Woods, Hidiv Woods, Göztepe Rose Garden, Büyük Çamlıca Woods, Sultanahmet Square, and Gülhane Park during the Tulip Festival. In addition to selling tulip-themed products ranging from marblings to sculptures, there are also paintings, photo exhibitions, and concerts on exposition.

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Park and Gardens Directorate, a total of 26 million 500 thousand tulips of 160 different varieties were planted across the city. Tulips of 160 different varieties were grown by villagers from Silivri, Çatalca, Şile, Pamukova and Geyve as well as those in the Çumra district of the Central Anatolian province of Konya.

* (A total of 2.000.000 tulips of 49 different varieties have been planted in Gülhane Park)

* (A total of 3.000.000 tulips of 160 different varieties have been planted in Emirgan Woods)

* (A total of 700.000 tulips of 45 different varieties have been planted in Yıldız Woods)

* (A total of 530.000 tulips of 167 different varieties have been planted in Bulbous Plants Park)

* (A total of 300.000 tulips of 25 different varieties have been planted in Beykoz Woods)

* (A total of 1.657.500 tulips of 100 different varieties have been planted in Göztepe 60’ıncı Yıl Park)

* (A total of 500.000 tulips of 41 different varieties have been planted in Büyük Çamlıca Woods)

* (A total of 500.000 tulips of 41 different varieties have been planted in Küçük Çamlıca Woods)

* (A total of 150.000 tulips of 30 different varieties have been planted in Fethipaşa Woods)

* (A total of 600.000 tulips of 30 kinds have been planted in Hidiv Çubuklu Woods)

* (A total of 480.000 tulips of 20 kinds have been in Gözbağı Woods)

The tulip has become a symbol of the city of Istanbul since the period of Seljuk Turks up until our present time and it has become worthy of aesthetic admiration in every part of the society and has affiliated with the Turkish Culture with these works, returned back to its original motherland.

The most beautiful tulips of Istanbul to be chosen…

The most beautiful tulips of Istanbul will be chosen as a part of the International Tulip Festival, as is done each year. The photographs featuring tulips that blossom in every corner of the city will also compete with each other. Additionally, millions of tulips have been planted in the parks of Istanbul as a part of the festival.
