Tayfun Karali was born in 1967, Ankara. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1987. Karali received his master's degree on "Legal Structure of European Communities between 1987 and 1989". He continued to work as a lawyer until 1995.
In 1995, he started his Municipality career in Fatih Municipality as a Deputy Mayor. He realized many successful projects between 1995 and 1999 in Fatih Municipality. (Zeyrek Residences, Fener - Balat Rehabilitation Project, Education Parks, etc.). In 1999, he became a candidate for Fatih Municipality Mayor position. After the Local Elections, he started to work as Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor. During his assignments, he organized many researches in Turkey and abroad; directed seminars and projects for substance addiction, education, culture, sports and local administrations. He is a founder member of the following organizations: Istanbul Education Culture and Service Fund, KOCAV, Mazlumder İstanbul Branch, Balat Education Sports Culture Association. He is also a member of the following organizations: Istanbul Wrestling Club Protection Fund, Lawmakers Association, Y.S.S. Sports Club, Istanbul Wrestling Sports Club. Between 1985 and 1991 he was a wrestler in the national team. He represented Turkey in more than 20 matches. Mr. Tayfun Karaali served as the Director of Almshouse between the years August 23, 2004 – May 05, 2011. He currently serves as the Director of Municipal Police Councel at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).
Mr. Karaali is married with two daughters.
