Abdurrahman Şen Mr. Abdurrahman Şen was born on August 1st, 1955, in Hafik, Sivas.
He graduated from Istanbul University, receiving his undergraduate degree from the faculty of Letters, Department of Turkish language and Literature in 1984.
He began his career as a journalist in 1975 working for various media outlets in Turkey, such as working as a columnist mainly in the culture and arts section of various newspapers.
His writings were published in various art and culture magazines such as “Cemre”, “Beyazsanat” and “Sarmaşık Kültür”. He served as an adviser to Beyoğlu District’s Mayor, mainly in the field of art and culture between June 1995 to December 2004 for a two-year term. During these period, he signed various cultural activities many of which was the first in its field.
He has eight books published which are as follows: “Cemre”, “Hilal’i Beklerken”, “Renk Renk Sinema”, “Son Sultanü’ş Şuara Necip Fazıl”, “İstiklâl Marşı Ve Mehmed Âkif Ersoy” , “Ediplerin Gözüyle Necip Fazıl” , “Bir Destan Adam” and “Türk Sinemasında Yerli Arayışlar”, which is published by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
He was awarded the Grand Service Award to Turkish Culture given by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1995. He also served as a Co-Founder, a Chairman and a Board Member in various cultural institutions.
In August 2004, he generously donated a number of his 3500 books for establishing a library in Hafik, Sivas, where he was born. The library, which was built in the cultural center during the same year, was put into service in a ceremony held on September 5, 2005.
Mr. Şen is a permanent press card holder and is married with a child.
