Mr. Murat Tuncay was born in Istanbul in 1964 and graduated from Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) as a an urban planner in 1987. He continued the ITU English Preparatory Program within the Master's Program of “Regional Planning” in 1989. Mr. Tuncay worked for a private urban planning firm in Istanbul as an urban planner between the years 1989-1991. After completing his military service, he started working as an urban planner at Bahçelievler District Municipality in 1993.
Mr. Tuncay served as a deputy director at the Urban Planning Department of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) between the years 1994-1998. Furthermore, he continued his MA studies at the Istanbul University (IU) in the field of “Social Politics” during the semester 1996-1997. Moreover, Mr. Tuncay served as both deputy director, director at the Directorate of Historical Sites Protection and the head of Survey and Projects between the years 1998-2004. Mr. Tuncay currently serves as the director of Protection, Application and Supervision at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
