Prof Dr. Ahmet Demir was born in 1959, Ulubey-Uşak. He graduated from Afyon High School in 1976 and graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1981. After his military service in 1983, Demir who strated to academic life  as research fellow in Hydraulic Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Yıldız Technical University, in the same year, he started to his master education in Yıldız Technical University, Institute of Science, Water-Environment Program. Demir who took titles of master engineer in 1985 and doctor engineer in 1990, attended to course of I.H.E(MS. Sanitary Engineering) in Delft of Netherland between 1988-1990.

Ahmet Demir became research fellow in Yıldız Technical University between 1983-1991, Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Demir who started to work as assistant professor in Department of Environmental Engineering between 1991-1996, worked as associate professor between 1996-2002. Demir who has been worked as professor in the same department since 2002,  served as Head of Wastewater Treatment License Control in İSKİ General Directorate between 1996-1998. He has been member of ISKI Board for August 2008.

Prof Dr Ahmet Demir who became Yıldız Technical University Head of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering Departments between 2006-2008, was appointed to Deanship of Faculty of Civil Engineering on September 15th/ 2008. Prof Dr Ahmet Demir who knows English, is married and father of 2 children.
