Köksal Tandıroğlu was born in 1952, Erzincan. He graduated from Sivas High School in 1969. Later, he graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1973 as a Mechanical Engineer. He specialized in Business Administration at İstanbul University- Faculty of Business Administration in 1975. Afterwards, he graduated from State Language School, Department of English in 1977. With the JICA scholarship of Japanese Government, he had Engineering Improvement Education in Japan.
He started his career at Sümerbank, the company that had given him an educational scholarship. He worked as an engineering unit chief and a service manager in assembly, machine-energy, planning and production units in many factories of Sümerbank in various cities. He worked as a Deputy General Manager in Bergama Tekstil Co. for 4 years and as a General Manager for 2 years. He also worked as Factory Manager in Sümerbank's Nevşehir and Nazilli factories for 9 years, and as a Chief Inspector at the Department of Supervision Committee for 3 years. During his duty as a supervisor, he was appointed to Prime Ministry Supervision Committee. Afterwards, he quit his position at Sümer Holding and was assigned to TBMM National Palaces Directorate Department-Hereke Carpet and Silk Textile Factory as a manager in June 2003. Tandıroğlu was later assigned to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality- Department of Fire Brigade on 05.10.2004, and he serves as the Director of Research and Planning Coordination (APK) Department since November 2005. Tandıroğlu participated in many courses, seminars and practice studies about engineering, business administration, quality systems, etc. in Turkey and abroad. He speaks fluent English and intermediate level Japanese. He's married with 2 children.
