Ahmet Günay Dr. Ahmet GÜNAY was born in the village of A. Çamlı belonging to Bigadiç, Balıkesir/Turkey in 1972. He completed his elementary school education at A. Çamlı Elementary School , middle school education at Konakpınar Middle School in Balıkesir and high school education at Muharrem Hasbi High School in Balıkesir in 1989.
Mr. Günay graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Environmental Engineering in 1993. He was registered at Istanbul Technical University Institute of Science and Technology, studying his Master’s degree in the Faculty of Environmental Engineering in 1993. He began his professional career as a research assistant at Yıldız Technical University(YTU), Faculty of Environmental Engineering in 1995. He received his master’s degree at Istanbul Technical University Institute of Science and Technology in the Faculty of received his PhD in 1998. Mr. Günay received his PhD in Environmental Engineering from Yıldız Technical University(YTU) in 2002.
He served as the Head of Department of Environmental Protection at Antalya Metropolitan Municipality between the years of 2004 and 2006 and also served as the Head of Department of Environmental Protection and the Head of Financial Services at Antalya Provincial Special Administration between the years of 2006 and 2007.
Dr. Günay also worked as Associate Professor at Balıkesir University, Department of Engineering and Architecture between 2007 and 2010. Later, he worked at the Directorate of Waste Management of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality between the years of 2010 and 2011.
He has currently been serving as a director of Environmental Protection at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Dr. Günay has published a book titled “Environmental Chemistry” and also numerous articles concerning Environmental Engineering both in Turkish and English.
Dr. Günay is married with two children.
