Mehmet Akif Can was born in 1972, Üsküdar-Istanbul. He completed his elementary and high school education in Istanbul. Later, he graduated from Anadolu University-Social Sciences 2-year Program.
He started working at the Metropolitan Municipality in 1995, as a Municipal Police Clerk, and worked at various positions within the directorate. Between 2005 and 2006, he served as the Deputy Director Municipal Police, in charge of B field.
Can, who has been appointed to the Directorate of European Region Municipal Police as the Director on 08.12.2006, is married with three children.
