İSFALT consistently pioneers and applies new technologies and was the 1st company in Turkey to develop sewage drain and manhole leveling techniques, the 1st to use flexible steel rope guards along coastal routes, and the 1st to recognize the ecological importance of using liquid petroleum gasoline (LPG) fuel in production.
Objectives:
Established in 1986, İSFALT's mission is to build all facilities necessary for the production of asphalt and to produce and meet the asphalt demands of the greater Istanbul metropolitan area.
Operations:
İSFALT not only produces asphalt, but it also operates in asphalt and surface pavement applications, road construction, infrastructure-superstructure construction works and designs, and ground studies, and it provides technical consultancy and laboratory services.
-Asphalt Production - İSFALT produces the asphalt and other necessary components like emulsion for its
own projects as well as for other municipalities and the private sector. İSFALT also produces colored asphalt.
-Asphalt and Surface Pavement - İSFALT completely removes old layers of asphalt using trimming machines then lays new asphalt with sophisticated electronic pavers that allow for smooth, even pavement.
-Road Construction - İSFALT offers complete road construction and engineering services including: topography studies, weight related and other strain measurements, analyses of road condition, and landscape planning. İSFALT also constructs layered junctions and roads.
Sewage Drain Leveling - ISFALT raises manholes and flattens road pavement around drainage grates to create level driving surfaces.
-Road Marking -İSFALT, using specially formulated thermoplastic paint, paints road markings (lanes, arrows, speed limits, etc.) and curbs.
- Road and Sidewalk Maintenance - İSFALT routinely carries out public tendered safety projects. It renovates and maintains pedestrian sidewalks and has constructed flexible steel rope guardrails that prevent vehicles from going off the road and limit damages in an accident. It also conducts sophisticated computer analyses on existing roads to determine areas in need of scaling and provides asphalt scratching services to level uneven roads.
-Consultancy and Training - İSFALT provides technical consultancy and training to both government and private companies. Through trade publications like the İSFALT Bulletin and Asphalt Handbook, through cooperation with the top technical universities in Istanbul, and through staff exchanges with companies in France, Germany, Belgium, Sweden and the United States, it also provides employees with continuous theoretical and practical technical training.
-Research and Development - İSFALT's laboratory is in compliance with all envi-ronmental, safety, and quality regulations and is fully licensed by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). İSFALT's laboratory work focuses on continued development of hi-tech, innovative asphalt production and application techniques and quality con-no 1 measures - material quality control, product quality control and basic inputs quality control.

-To ensure continuous supply, İSFALT purchased a giant, fully automatic and computer controlled plant with an asphalt production capacity of 450 tons/hour - the highest capacity among all Turkish municipal plants.
-İSFALT's emulsion production plant is the largest in Turkey.
-The installment of vertical tanks with 2000 ton capacity has raised İSFALT's bitumen stocking capacity to 13,300 tons and prevents heat loss.
-İSFALT's commitment to the environment has led to the introduction of important ecological advances like the dry filter system, which collects and recycles 2.5 to 4.5 tons/hour of filtrate and eliminates dust pollution. İSFALT is also committed to the use of clean burning LPG and natural gas.
Accomplishments:
İSFALT has consistently broadened its area of operation and increased its production capacity.
-Between 1989-1998 İSFALT's asphalt production increased 89% and total production for 2000 was 2,750,000 tons.
-Between 1997-1999 İSFALT built a complete road system, including a viaduct bridge, a layered junction and three underpasses, connecting central districts (Eyüp, Gaziosmanpaşa and Bayrampaşa) to TEM motorway.
-In a single year, 1998, İSFALT constructed 300 pedestrian sidewalks.
-In 2000 İSFALT increased sales of asphalt to the private sector by 30% over the pre
vious year for a total of 120,000 tons.

Future Goals:
İSFALT's success stems from a commitment to research and development and applica-non of new technologies. In this spirit, İSFALT will continue to improve the quality of its production.
-İSFALT will lay new, "porous" asphalt, a type of asphalt pavement which minimizes traffic noise pollution caused by tires.
-İSFALT will continue laying modified asphalt, which prevents fissures in the surface and delays oxidation in asphalt - important advantages in high traffic areas where maintenance and repair operations are difficult.
-İSFALT aims to launch a Turkish Asphalt Institute under the auspices of The American Asphalt Institute to promote local and regional discussion and collective research
